Writing Piece 4- Informative Essay on the Holocaust
Students will choose one bystander, upstander, and perpetrator to research and find evidence proving their stance within the holocaust. Students will be expected to clearly defend their evidence with clear elaboration why each character is deemed a bystander, upstander, or perpetrator. Student may choose characters from the Night by Elie Wiesel or other key figures we analyzed in various sources.
April/May
Unit 5: Social Expectations and the Fighting for Rights
SS Key Concepts- Reconstruction, Black Codes, Jim Crow, Black Southern Migration, Amendments 13,14,15, NAACP, Plessey V Ferguson, Little Rock 9 Brown Vs. Broad of Education, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Bayard Rustin, and Eyes on the Prize.

Class Novel- Animal Farm by George Orwell
Writing Piece 5 Argumentative Research- Evaluating Animal Farm by George Orwell in today's society
Students will analyze various conflicts throughout the novel tracking how Societal Expectations impact society. Using evidence from current events and the novel students will evaluate current issues with society and the importance of standing up in the face of tyranny.
